Cleveland Plain Dealer hires health care biz reporter

George Rodrigue, the editor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, writes about changes to its business section, including the hiring of a new reporter to cover the business of health care.

Rodrigue writes, “On Monday, we’re bringing aboard a great new reporter, Casey Ross, to cover the business of healthcare. He last worked at The Boston Globe, where he was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in business journalism. Look for him to write stories from the standpoint of both strategists and consumers. He’ll be working closely with the other member of our health team, Brie Zeltner, who focuses on the science of health.

“We’re beefing up the consumer-protection news in our Sunday paper, adding recent product recalls, safety alerts, and fraud bulletins. If you tell us that those matter enough to you, we’ll also try to build a searchable database online.

Teresa Dixon Murray continues to offer financial alerts and advice through her Money Matters column, and her daily reports online. She’ll focus on issues crucial to Baby Boomers, who are dealing with their own careers and retirements, and with the needs of their children and their parents.

“As watchdogs, we’re constantly looking for stories about business practices that our readers need to be aware of. Stay tuned over the next few weeks for an important story along those lines from John Caniglia.”
