Claman’s Buffett coverage receives high ratings

Fox Business Network anchor Liz Claman’s coverage of Berkshire Hathaway’s annual meeting on Monday was her highest rated in the 10 years she’s been covering the meeting.

According to Nielsen Media Research, her “Countdown to the Closing Bell” show on Monday had 200,000 viewers. In comparison, the Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger interviews on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” had 170,000 viewers.

Additionally, her follow-up show Wednesday was the highest-rated market show on television with 227,000 total viewers.

“Five years ago we struck gold by being the first network to ask Munger what he thought of the nascent emerging Bitcoin as an asset class,” said Claman. “’Rat poison,’ was his now infamous retort.”

So this year, Claman asked Buffett the same question.

“In the five years since Charlie gave us his ‘rat poison’ comment it has jumped from $150 to around $9000 per Bitcoin,” explained Claman. “Buffett quipped, ‘Rat poison squared!’ Other journalists rushed to tweet out and report his response to Fox Business’ question. Even when you’re competing with the international media, if you just ask the questions you yourself would love answers to, you can distinguish yourself from, and beat the competition.”
