A blog about prominent local company Proctor & Gamble by new reporter Keith Reed at the Cincinnati Enquirer has ended after six months.
When introduced back in December, business editor Carolyn Pione wrote, “He will create a blog about P&G where people can share ideas and information, and, we hope, improve The Enquirer’s coverage of P&G.” Later, she added, “P&G lent itself uniquely to this project because its reach in this region is broad and deep. Its business affects our economy on many levels, from vendor relationships to shareholders, former employees who are entrepreneurs, retirees volunteering in the community, spin-off industries and community organizations.â€?
However, the blog has not been been updated now in more than a month.
Pione tells Talking Biz News, “We love to experiment at the Enquirer, and we thought it might be a way to help a new reporter learn his beat, but we found we didn’t get a lot of traction with the P&G community in terms of helpful story ideas and dialogue. I think it was a sign of the digital age for newspapers, where we try a lot of different things and see what works and what doesn’t and move on.â€?
