Julie Tatge, who was business editor of the Chicago Tribune in an earlier stint at the paper, was appointed to the post once again earlier this month.

Tatge will report to Michael Lev, who is associate managing editor of business.

The Tribune business desk has been undergoing a number of changes. Earlier this year, it added new business beats in manufacturing/green technology/energy, workplace features and commercial real estate.

The changes are part of a strategy at the Tribune to expand its coverage. It introduced a redesign in September 2010. Lev was named head of the section in March 2009. Five longtime business desk staffers left after the paper accepted buyout offers in 2008. In addition, other top names such as columnist David Greising left for other jobs in journalism.

Tatge has been with the paper since January running its Schaumberg operations before taking this new position.

She previously spent three years at the Scripps School at Ohio University as an instructor. She was first at the Tribune from February 2000 to August 2007, when she was business editor, an assistant metro editor and education writer.

Before that, Tatge was an assistant business editor at the Columbus Dispatch and managing editor of Columbus Business First, an American City Business Journals paper.
