A former Chicago Tribune business writer has launched a Web site called ChicagoTechNews.com devoted to covering the technology industry in the area.
ChicagoTechNews.com launched with a piece on allegations of Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich planning on diverting state science and technology funds to Wrigley Field, a look at the probable impact of Barak Obama’s presidency on Illinois businesses, and an interview with former Illinois Technology Development Alliance president and current Kansas Bioscience Organization president Tom Thornton on why he left Illinois for Kansas and the role of government grants in funding a start-up.
“The difference with Chicago Tech News is working experience with the technology trade,” Allen said. “I’ve consulted on technology since the mid-’90s. Everything from Fortune 500 accounts to the American Medical Association and I teach an e-Business course at Columbia College Chicago. My government affairs columnist was in Gov. Edgar’s cabinet and also a vice president of the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce. My electronic discovery columnist is an editor of The Sedona Principles. We’ve seen how the subject matter works in the field.”
