Cheddar hires Nora Ali to be an anchor

Business news service Cheddar has hired Nora Ali to be an anchor in New York.

“We are thrilled to have her on board,” said CEO and anchor Jon Steinberg in an email to Talking Biz News.

Ali spent the last three years as a senior product manager of customer experience at Jet.com. She has also served as the co-host for the annual National Finals for Distinguished Young Women of America, the oldest scholarship program for high school girls

From July 2011 to February 2015, she was an associate for Pan American equities research sales at Goldman Sachs.

“This is an exciting moment for us at Cheddar,” said editor in chief Jim Roberts. “From her experience with equities at Goldman Sachs to her knowledge of product and e-commerce, Nora brings a ton of knowledge about topics that are at the heart of Cheddar’s business coverage.”

She holds a degree from Harvard University in statistics and quantitative finance.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
