The Charlotte Observer has hired Catherine “Kitty” Muccigrosso as retail reporter.
She started on Monday.
Muccigrosso is the longtime assistant editor at the Rock Hill Herald. She started there in 2004, after previous stints at papers in Columbia, Missouri, and Jamestown, New York. She won a McClatchy President’s Award in 2011 for a special project on the Clover School District’s backpack food program.
Muccigrosso also was the Charlotte/Rock Hill Saturday editor until this spring, and recently subbed on the editing desk at the Observer. (Both the Herald and the Observer are owned by McClatchy.)
She previously was an editor at The Gaston Gazette in North Carolina and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the State University of New York at Fredonia.
