As noted earlier, the Los Angeles Times is hiring away a reporter, Dawn Chmielewski, from the San Jose Mercury News to cover technology. But what’s new here is that one of the paper’s science writers, Charles Piller, is switching over to business to cover Microsoft from the San Francisco bureau.
