Longtime California business editor retires

Eric Grunder, the business editor of the Stockton Record in California, retired on Wednesday.

A Record story states, “A well-respected journalist, Grunder, 65, has served in various roles at The Record. He joined the company in 1985 as a copy editor when the newspaper was owned by Gannett Co. He came from a managing editor position in southern California.

“Nine months into the job, Grunder was promoted to assistant city editor.

“Then he was named news editor in 1987, and later he became business editor. He spent 18 years leading the Business section.

“Grunder moved into the Opinion page editor position on Feb. 25, 2008.

“During his time at The Record, he was worked for six publishers.

“‘Eric has truly done it all for The Record and our readers over the past three decades,’ said Editor Mike Klocke. ‘Serving in several key editor roles, he’s been able to blend his versatility with an unwavering commitment to readers and strong ethical values.'”
