Joseph Bernstein, a senior technology reporter at BuzzFeed News, has been named a Nieman fellow for the 2020-21 academic year.
Bernstein plans to study the ways recent technological change has contributed to alienation in 21st century American life.
Bernstein is based in New York and has been with BuzzFeed since February 2013.
He previously was editor of Kill Screen Media and a reporter for two years for Popular Science magazine.
Nieman, a center for internationally recognized journalism fellowships, publications and programs, has selected 16 Nieman fellows for its 83rd class. All of the fellows can be found here.
