BuzzFeed business names deputy editor, senior reporter

BuzzFeed business editor Tom Gara sent out the following announcement on Wednesday afternoon:

Hi all – a couple of updates from the land of dollar signs here at BuzzFeed Business:

Venessa Wong is now our deputy editor. As you all know, Venessa has been absolutely killing it covering the food business, and reporting will still be her number one priority. But she’ll also be contributing her excellent eye for writing and reporting to make everyone’s work better. Hooray Venessa.
And Sapna Maheshwari is now a senior reporter, in recognition of her consistent streak of amazing work dating back to the earliest days of BuzzFeed Business. She’ll be aiming even higher this year, taking the biggest and most ambitious swings possible in an effort to break more news, kick more asses and generally run the game even more than she already does. Hooray Sapna.
It’s such a joy to get to work with these two, and this fantastic newsroom is a better place with them around. Hooray, etc.
Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
