Buzzfeed agrees to recognize union

Buzzfeed finally agreed to recognize an employee union after months of not being able to come to an agreement. The union acknowledged the achievement in a tweet. The union also stated that the union would be certified after a third party conducted a card check, as well.

Buzzfeed News employees staged walkouts last month and insisted on union recognition. There were multiple reasons for the walkouts, but many employees cited “mismanagement” and recent job cuts as reason for the campaign. Buzzfeed previously eliminated 15 percent of its headcount earlier in the year, in January.
