BusinessWeek running stories suggested by readers

BusinessWeek.com editor in chief John Byrne writes Monday that the business magazine has run two stories on its site that came from readers.

It’s part of the business publication’s new strategy to look at story pitches that its readers provide.

Byrne writes, “For the first time ever, we have two back-to-back lead stories on our home page resulting from suggestions from readers. The idea for today’s top story, ‘A Legal Scramble over Egg Prices,’ came from long-time BusinessWeek reader Gordon W. Campbell (left), who is President of Campbell Field Airport in Virginia and the Virginia Aviation Council.

“Over the entire weekend, we led the site with ‘The Financial Crisis Blame Game,’ and a complementary slideshow, ‘The Faces Behind the Crisis.’ Both stories were the result of a reader suggestion from Joe Lacenere (see below).
