Businessweek, Fast Company, Wired nominated for Ellies

Fast Company, Wired and Bloomberg Businessweek were among the business magazines nominated for National Magazine Awards by the American Society of Magazine Editors on Thursday.

Wired is a finalist in the design category. It is also a finalist in the service category for “All Work and All Play,” by Rashida Jones, July.

Bloomberg Businessweek is a finalist in the single-topic issue category for “Code: An Essay.” It is also a finalist in the website category.

Fast Company is a finalist in the general excellence category.

ASME will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the awards when each of the 114 finalists is honored at the annual awards dinner on Monday, Feb. 1, at the Grand Hyatt New York.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
