BusinessDen.com, Denver’s online-only business news publication, is seeking a reporter to cover civil litigation and white-collar crime, as well other aspects of white-collar industries.
This is a new position that represents an expansion for our newsroom. You will take over a beat that has been split among other reporters and take it to a new level.
The right applicant is competitive and has years of experience in a professional newsroom. You have a knack for digging up scoops by using public documents and, critically, developing sources. We expect you to meet up with key players on your beat and check in with them regularly, not just when you need a quote for a story.
On the criminal side, you will become an expert at following court dockets for high-profile cases, and breaking news along the way.
On the civil side, you will cover disputes of interest to a wide business audience, and identify those that are worthy of ongoing coverage.
Beyond that, you will cover the business of white collar industries like banking, law and accounting — which could include new office leases, expansions, acquisitions, prominent hires and the like.
