Daniel Kehrer, editor of Business.com, writes to Talking Biz News Tuesday about the Web site’s continued efforts in adding proprietary content to its operation.
The Santa Monica, Calif.-based site now has 6 million unique monthly visitors and 22 million total, with revenues growing some 40 percent to 50 percent annually.
The site is now writing and publishing original business news content on “channels” covering 10 business categories. The first two launched March 17 are http://technology.business.com and http://money.business.com, with others to follow shortly, says Kehrer.
“Our ‘Technology Insider’ and ‘Money Insider’ content will appear on these pages, as well as other places on Business.com, including electronic newsletters, and elsewhere,” says Kehrer.
“Our channel content style is part news, part blog,” adds Kehrer. “So we’ve coined the term ‘nog’ here…to describe this news/blog marriage.
“We have also commissioned 20,000 new and original business ‘how-to’ articles (or guides) to be completed in 2008,” adds Kehrer. “With each one running 450-650 words, that’s over 10 million words of new, original business content that will live on the more than 65,000 pages of our business-specific sites.
“Those huge content-creation initiatives, I think, could soon place Business.com among the nation’s largest ongoing, web-based creators of original, high-quality business ‘how-to’ and news content.”
