Business news Emmy finalists announced

CNBC, the “CBS Evening News,” PBS “NewsHour,” “Sixty Minutes” and “Dan Rather Reports” are among the finalists in the business and economics categories of the news and documentary Emmy Awards.

The “CBS Evening News,” “NewsHour,” CNBC’s “Street Signs” and “Sunday Morning” on CBS are finalists in the category of outstanding business and economics reporting in a regularly scheduled newscast.

“60 Minutes” and “Dan Rather Reports” both have two finalists in the category of outstanding business and economics reporting in a news magazine.

PBS and “Frontline” are finalists for outstanding business and economics reporting, long form. PBS has two finalists in this category.

CNBC is a finalist in the outstanding interview category for its interview with President Barack Obama. The business news network is also a finalist in the best promotional announcement category.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
