Jessica Liebman, the managing editor of Business Insider, writes that the business news site is looking for business journalists on the West Coast.
Liebman writes, “We are hiring more writers to dig deep into the Silicon Valley and West Coast tech scene, with a particular focus on startups and breaking news.
- A proven ability to write about technology and business — and very importantly, the people behind it — in plain English without being dull.
- Experience covering consumer technology, startups, and/or venture capital, ideally for a fast-breaking news organization.
- An eager desire to get out from behind your computer to attend events, meet people, and ask questions.
- An interest in all the facets of online storytelling, including text, graphics, audio, video and other kinds of information.
- An understanding of social media.
- A strong sense of skepticism and immunity to hype.
- An open mind and flexible approach to writing and reporting.
The job is based in San Francisco, so candidates must live nearby or be willing to relocate. Please send a resume and clips to Matt at MRosoff@businessinsider.com.
