Doug Buchanan has been named editor of Columbus Business First, an American City Business Journals newspaper.
He replaces Dominic Cappa, who is retiring after a long career.
Laura Newpoff of Business First writes, “Buchanan arrived at Business First in 1998, starting his tenure as a banking and finance reporter before moving his way up the editing ranks. He has been the paper’s managing editor/digital, handling day-to-day news operations since 2004.
“He succeeds Dominic Cappa who will retire this week after nearly 17 years as the paper’s top editor. Buchanan becomes the sixth editor-in-chief at Business First since the paper’s founding in 1984.
“Buchanan, 50, came to Business First from The Daily Reporter in Columbus, where he covered banking, insurance, securities and other beats as a staff writer. Before that he was a stringer at the Delaware Gazette and held a temporary assignment at the Associated Press.
“‘Doug’s contributions to Business First are innumerable. He has led our digital news operation from the outset, helping to fulfill our mission to help Central Ohio executives and entrepreneurs grow their businesses, advance their careers and simplify their professional lives,’ said Nick Fortine, publisher and market president.”
