Phil Brown, longtime publisher of Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce, has taken on the role of managing editor.
In his new role, Brown replaces Jon Silver, who was recently named managing editor of the Puget Sound Business Journal.
Brown is the fourth generation of his family to run the newspaper. Previously, he was editor of the paper from 1991 to 1995. He has also pitched in as “backup editor” during vacations and times of heavy workload since the past 25 years.
The Daily Journal of Commerce is a member of Allied Daily Newspapers of Washington, the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association and the Associated Press.
It was also one of the first newspapers to go digital, using a dial-up system prior to the wide-spread adoption of the internet.
