Bounds leaving WSJ video for Consumer Reports

Wendy Bounds, an anchor and managing editor for WSJ Live Video, is leaving The Wall Street Journal to become senior director of video for Consumer Reports.

Bounds will oversee a team of video producers, editors and others who produce a wide range of content for the web and television outlets. The content is distributed through the digital version of Consumer Reports on tablets, the web site, YouTube, and through syndication relationships with major portals.

Bounds will report to Christian Nimsky, vice president and general manager, Digital Interactive Products & Services, for Consumer Reports.

At the Journal, Bounds currently has a number of roles in its growing video operations.

As deputy head of WSJ Live, Bounds works as managing editor to help oversee WSJ’s video content including its YouTube channel. WSJ Live includes a global team of 40-plus producers, anchors and technical staff that work with The Wall Street Journal’s global news staff to produce videos for 30 different platforms including Hulu, Apple TV and Xbox. WSJ Live generates more than four hours of live video a day and hit 35 million monthly streams in 2012.

Bounds is also the solo anchor the daily, live 25-minute noon news/lifestyle show “Lunch Break,” helping choose story topics, write scripts, gather visual elements and prepare guests. She interviews outside guests, including politicians, celebrities and CEOs.

Bounds is also the creator, producer and host of WSJ’s “Off Duty” video magazine show, programmed to capture what’s trending online in entertainment, sports and other lifestyle sectors.

Bounds also spent four years as The Journal’s small business editor, and she was part of the team that created its Personal Journal section.
