BostInno hires Walrath to cover Boston startup scene

Rowan Walrath

BostInno has hired Rowan Walrath to cover Boston-area startups.

Walrath has been a fact checker for Wired magazine in San Francisco. She has also reported and fact-checked for Mother Jones, Eater, and HuffPost, among other publications.

Rowan was an online editorial fellow at Mother Jones, where she reported on health science, sex and gender, and related policy. She also fact-checked, copyedited, and produced digital content for the magazine.

Prior to moving to the Bay Area, Walrath was a local reporter in Boston, focusing on community news ranging from health and environmental science to neighborhood development. Her bylines have appeared in the Boston Globe, Boston magazine, and WGBH, among other publications.

Walrath is a Northeastern University graduate.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
