Gavin Murphy has been promoted to editor-in-chief and Michael Scarchilli was named managing editor of The Bond Buyer, the daily newspaper covering the municipal bond market.
A story on the paper’s site states, “Murphy, who had served as interim editor-in-chief since late 2010, joined the paper in 2000 as national editor. Scarchilli joined the paper as Northeast reporter in 2005, became market reporter in 2006, and senior market reporter in 2008.
“As national editor, he was responsible for directing the efforts of The Bond Buyer’s six regional bureaus, including the paper’s ongoing in-depth coverage of the Jefferson County, Ala., default. In addition, he has been a leading voice on the editorial team that selects honorees for the paper’s annual Deal of the Year Awards.
“As editor-in-chief, Murphy will be responsible for all editorial operations and will be charged with continuing the organization’s evolution from a daily printed publication to a real-time online news service, while maintaining close ties with the readership.”
