Bolton named ME of Memphis Business Journal
Jason Bolton has been named managing editor of The Memphis Business Journal.
A story on its website states, “Bolton joined MBJ in September 2000 as research director, in charge of weekly lists and the annual Book of Lists.
“His work over the past two decades includes guiding 21 Book of Lists to print and producing more than 1,000 lists.
“‘One of my favorite things is when I tell an MBJ reader that all of the List research and Book of Lists material is produced by just one person,’ said MBJ editor-in-chief Greg Akers. ‘It’s a mind-blowing fact, the impact of which is increased exponentially depending on how long they’ve been reading the paper and mining those Lists week in and week out.’
“He became American City Business Journals’ (ACBJ) first data editor in September 2015 — a new role within MBJ’s parent company created to reflect the expanding nature of data journalism.
“Since December 2017, Bolton has also served as a mentor to new data journalists joining ACBJ.
“In July 2018, he added beat reporting to research and data duties, covering the health care, biotechnology, and medical device beats for the past three years.”
