Bloomberg’s Tyrangiel joins Vice

Former Bloomberg LP editor Josh Tyrangiel is joining the edgy Vice Media to head its upcoming daily news show on HBO, reports Claire Atkinson of the New York Post.

Atkinson writes, “Tyrangiel, 43, who oversaw Charlie Rose’s newscast for Bloomberg TV, will look to create a news broadcast that will appeal to the more sophisticated HBO viewer — someone who is already pretty well informed, he told The Post.

“Tyrangiel, who will hold the title of executive vice president content, news, said getting big-name interviews will be one of his priorities.

“‘I have a lot of confidence in getting significant actors on the global stage,’ he said in his first interview since agreeing to join Shane Smith’s hard-charging outfit.

“Asked what viewers should expect as far as the show’s focus, the executive said, ‘I love business, politics, science, even entertainment news. What I really like are complicated stories, versus hitting people over the head with a hammer.'”
