Stephanie Ruhle, a Bloomberg Television anchor, spoke with Capital New York about her career and about business journalism

CAPITAL: Do you think that the financial journalism industry has become more diverse (in terms of gender and race)? What are the biggest obstacles in the way?
RUHLE: Financial journalism is not dissimilar to the rest of the corporate landscape—we need more diversity. But here’s the good thing: it’s a results-based business now more than ever. On television, viewers want the best and it’s really not about who is “presenting” news. Bloomberg’s “Market Makers” is not about me or my co-anchor. Instead, it’s about the valuable insights of our guests and the news we can deliver. I’m very lucky to have this seat and encourage anyone who is passionate about the content and the industry to go for it.
