Bloomberg’s Ossinger to receive SABEW’s President’s Award

Joanna Ossinger

Joanna Ossinger, markets editor at Bloomberg News, will be presented with the President’s Award by the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing on Oct. 25 during SABEWNYC18, its annual fall conference in New York.

Ossinger, a former SABEW board member who served as SABEW president from 2015 to 2016, was chosen for this honor based on her years of service to the organization.

“Although it has been more than a couple of years since she served as SABEW president, Joanna has continued to provide significant, invaluable support, often behind the scenes, to our organization and leadership,”  said Mark Hamrick, SABEW president and senior economic analyst, and Washington bureau chief at Bankrate.com, in a statement.

“At the top of the list is her leadership and hard work on our vitally important Best in Business awards, which continue to grow in scale and impact. By honoring her in this way, our members can help celebrate her remarkable continued involvement.”

Ossinger is an editor in the cross-asset group, which covers markets globally, at Bloomberg News, where she has worked since 2010. She is the first Bloomberg representative to be SABEW president.

“I’m truly honored to receive this award,” Ossinger said in a statement. “I believe wholeheartedly in SABEW’s mission and have been happy to play a part in helping the organization thrive at a time when quality business journalism is more important than ever.”

She previously worked as a reporter and editor at The Wall Street Journal, as the manager of day-to-day website operations at Fox Business and as a managing editor at TheStreet.com.
