Longtime Bloomberg News journalist John McCorry has been named the winner of the Elliott Bell Award, given by the New York Financial Writers’ Association.
McCorry is currently executive editor in charge of Africa coverage for Bloomberg News.
He has been at Bloomberg since 1992 and has been based in Princeton, New Jersey, and the New York office, most recently as Americas senior executive editor.
He also was executive editor in charge of the speed team for the Americas.
Each year, the NYFWA presents an award named in honor of its founding president to an outstanding journalist for a significant long-term contribution to the profession of financial journalism.
Bell was a former editor in chief of BusinessWeek. Past winners include Bloomberg editor in chief emeritus Matthew Winkler and Gretchen Morgenson, now with The Wall Street Journal.
