John Gittelsohn, a Bloomberg News reporter in its Los Angeles bureau, will take over the beat covering bond investor PIMCO.
He replaces Mary Childs, who left Bloomberg for a job at the Financial Times. Gittelsohn will remain in the Los Angeles bureau.
“No one can replace Mary, but I’ll be taking over her job, which is a great honor as one of Bloomberg’s highest profile reporting positions,” said Gittelsohn in a message to Talking Biz News.
Gittelsohn has been with Bloomberg since 2009, primarily covering the real estate beat. Before that, he spent 14 years at the Orange County Register and four years at the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. He also spent three years working as a freelancer for the Boston Globe out of Seoul, South Korea.
His work has received recognition from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers, the Education Writers Association and the Orange County Press Club.
Gittelsohn holds a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and a master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
