Bloomberg’s Cummings returning to WSJ

Jeanne Cummings, an editor at Bloomberg News in Washington, is returning to The Wall Street Journal, writes Hadas Gold of Politico.

Gold writes, “Cummings had previously worked at the Wall Street Journal, leaving in 2007 for POLITICO. She joined Bloomberg in 2011, and last year acted as a liaison between Washington operations and the Mark Halperin-and-John Heilemann-led Bloomberg Politics project. Earlier this year she was moved from her role with Bloomberg Politics and had been writing columns for Bloomberg View. Her official role with the Wall Street Journal, likely in a political editing capacity, will be announced in the next few weeks.

“Her departure comes during a tumultuous few weeks for Bloomberg’s D.C. bureau, which has held longstanding frustrations over how staffers there feel marginalized by the Heilemann-Halperin project in New York.

“Last year, Cummings was appointed head of Washington operations for Bloomberg Politics, where she was supposed to serve as the point person between the New York and Washington. But relations between the two projects haven’t been going well. In April, chief content officer Josh Tyrangiel and senior executive editor Marty Schenker were dispatched to Washington to address the longstanding problems.”
