Benny Evangelista of the San Francisco Chronicle writes Monday about the new Bloomberg Television show “Bloomberg West.”
Evangelista writes, “Jeff Taylor, Bloomberg’s West Coast TV managing editor and San Francisco bureau chief, said he believes the new show plugs a gap in tech coverage by focusing on the impact of Bay Area companies like Apple Inc., Facebook Inc., Google Inc., Twitter Inc. and Netflix Inc.
“‘The whole world does not revolve around an East Coast perspective,’ Taylor said. ‘Increasingly, the trends in our lives are getting driven in some meaningful way by the technology developed here on the West Coast.’
“Bloomberg has 65 reporters and editors in the local bureau, up from 32 in 2007, and plans to add five more soon, Taylor said. The bureau itself has about 250 employees.
“‘This is not a gadget show, this is not a show where we’re going to show you gee-whiz cool startups,’ said Johnson, who was a member of TheStreet.com’s original ‘murderer’s row’ of columnists. ‘This is a show on how technology is impacting business.'”
