Bloomberg TV makes staff changes, creates Newsmakers team

Bloomberg Television leaders Rachel Wehrspann, Jason Kelly and Anastasia Ellis sent out the following to the staff on Friday.

To all in USTV,

We are at an exciting moment in the history of Bloomberg Television, where we have the opportunity to contribute to the editorial mission of Bloomberg as never before. As outlined in John Micklethwait‘s note a couple weeks ago, a number of new initiatives — empowered smaller bureaus, reporter advisory councils, and the News Desks — are bringing our team of 2,700 strong together in powerful ways.

In an effort to help make USTV a faster and more collaborative part of the whole, we’re announcing several key staffing changes. It is our hope that these changes will drive us toward even better cross-platform coverage and position us to truly own the most meaningful stories.

SURVEILLANCE
Alex Frangeskides will become Supervising Producer of Bloomberg Surveillance on TV and Radio. He will continue to be based in London and will report to Anastasia Ellis and Rachel Wehrspann. Branden Asemah will become a Senior Producer on the team, also based London. They will be joined in New York by Reilley Dabbs, Justin Lau and Jameelah Robinson. McKinnon DeKuyper and Lee Brodie will also join the Surveillance team.

DAYBREAK
Anne Torres will rejoin her former Daybreak team as Supervising Producer. Jamie Berland will continue to serve as a Senior Producer for the show. They will be joined by Allison Weiss and Jackie Fabozzi in addition to current Daybreak producers Dan Neligh, Sheri Jennings and Amy Rosen.

MARKETS: EUROPEAN CLOSE (10-12) and AMERICAS (2-3:30)
Keiren Buchanan will become Supervising Producer for our Markets team. He will lead shows during the 10-12 and 2-3:30 hours. Tania Chen will step up as a Senior Producer for these hours. Keiren and Tania will be joined by current Markets producers Andrew Pourinski, David Dorsey, Chris Long, Sarah Musooli and Brooke Sweeney (along with support from Europe for the European Close). Jenna Dagenhart and Christina Hailey Allen will also join this team.

MARKETS: AMERICAS (12-1), BALANCE OF POWER (1-2) AND WHAT’D YOU MISS (3:30-5)
Courtney Collins will lead the second part of our Markets team as Supervising Producer. She will guide the shows from 12-1, 1-2 and What’d You Miss. Tim Andreacci will rejoin the daily shows as a Senior Producer during these hours. Courtney and Tim will be joined by current Markets producers Amber Sizemore, Jen Haley, Sam Shivraj and Ali Donaldson. Vielka Todd will also be joining this team. Bridgette Webb will also work on this team, splitting her time with Tech.

TECH
Candy Cheng will continue to lead Tech while Emily Haas-Godsil is on maternity leave. She is joined by Erin Dresch, Omar Kasrawi and Jackie Lopez here in NY.

ASIA
Marissa Dunn will take on a new leadership role as U.S. based Senior Producer for Asia programming. She will continue to be based in New York and will report to Emily Yamamoto in Hong Kong and Rachel Wehrspann in New York.

We thank Ted Fine for his leadership in keeping the morning shows on track during this transition period. He will resume his role as EP of Global Partnerships.

NEWSMAKERS
As referenced above, a number of the current booking team members will be assigned to, and report directly to, the show teams. Our hope is that the moves should better align their responsibilities, increase the quality of guests, and provide opportunities to contribute in new ways.

At the same time, we’re creating a Newsmakers team to work closely with the new News Desk on the day’s biggest stories. As the name implies, this group will target the most important voices across the world and ensure that once we get them booked, we maximize their appearances to the benefit of the global news organization, across platforms.

The team, comprising Adrienne Toscano, Paris Wald, Mike Boyle, David Goodman, Candy Cheng and Isaac Webster, will report to Jason, with a dotted line to Rachel. Laura Chapman, along with Harris Braude in London and Andy Clarke in Hong Kong, will continue to report to Jason with dotted lines to Anastasia and Jeremy, respectively. Emma Chandra and Taylor Riggs will continue to split their time between reporting/news reading and producing. They will report to Matt Levine to work closely with the new News Desk, also with a dotted line to Rachel.

In addition to the new structure described above, two of our team members are leaving TV/Radio for new opportunities within the business. David Meyers will be moving into a new role working with Mindy Massucci on Twitter. He will be covering breaking news on this exciting new initiative. Chelsea Hoon will be moving to the Bloomberg Live team to help coordinate cross platform efforts on events.

Please join us in congratulating all of our colleagues on their new roles, and let us know if you have any questions.

Rachel, Jason and Anastasia
