Bloomberg announced Wednesday that it will have an app for the upcoming Apple Watch.
The app will deliver headlines in the form of The Brief, providing access to critical news curated by Bloomberg Business editors. Headlines are updated based on motion detection so every time users move their wrist to look at the watch, the information refreshes.
If they tap on a headline, they can bookmark that story to their iPhone for reading at a later time, and can access it once their iPhone app is opened.
More than half of Bloomberg iPhone users have a personal Watchlist containing a portfolio of stocks, funds, indexes, and currencies. Using their watch, they will be able to get a quick snapshot of Watchlist activity.
At a glance, they can identify and track movement (positive, negative, and neutral) on securities and receive an overall summary of total gains/losses. Users will also receive lists of “leaders” and “laggers” and will be able to drill deeper for relevant headlines.
The app will provide alerts related to breaking news, important tune-in announcements and specific company news. When there is breaking news about a company, alerts will also include information about price impact and valuation changes for that company.
