Bloomberg senior editor Merelman is departing

Bloomberg News senior editor Stephen Merelman is leaving the news organization for a new opportunity.

As a senior editor since January 2016, he has worked on the New York editing hub, a group of high-level journalists, most of them former team leaders and managing editors. He worked extensively with reporters and editors covering U.S. economics, health, Venezuela’s unrest and Puerto Rico’s financial crisis, among other topics.

He previously was a team leader for the state and cities team and has been at Bloomberg since August 2010.

Merelman previously was the state editor and the front page editor at The (Raleigh) News & Observer. He also worked at the Birmingham News, Mobile Press-Register, the Charlottesville Daily Progress and the Montgomery Advertiser.
