TALKING BIZ NEWS EXCLUSIVE
Bloomberg News editor in chief Matthew Winkler sent out the following e-mail to the staff on Tuesday:
It is with great sadness that we tell you of the passing today of our friend and colleague Dunstan McNichol.
Dusty joined Bloomberg in 2009 as a reporter for the State Government and Local Finance Team, based out of Trenton. He was an enormously skilled reporter and a wonderful, gentle man, who was widely liked and admired by his colleagues at Bloomberg News and at the statehouse, where he had worked since 1993.
Among other awards, Dusty was part of the Star-Ledger team that won the Pulitzer Prize in 2005 for its coverage of Governor James E. McGreevey’s resignation. In 2010, Dusty won second place for Best Regional or State News from the New Jersey Society of Professional Journalists for his Bloomberg story “Goldman Sachs Still Paid for Swaps on Redeemed Bonds.” Dusty is survived by his wife and son.
McNichol’s last story was Monday on the Pennsylvania state revenue exceeding budget expectations.
