Bloomberg Radio announced Wednesday it is joining Radioplayer, the listening platform backed by the BBC and commercial radio, in a deal that will enable it to reach an additional 6 million potential listeners in the United Kingdom.
Radioplayer is a web and mobile app that aggregates more than 400 BBC and commercial radio stations, enabling consumers to browse a range of streams on a single platform. It can be accessed on all connected devices in the United Kingdom, including iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire and Windows as well as the Apple Watch, Android Wear, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
“Our audience of business and financial professionals want to access Bloomberg’s smart, relevant content wherever they are, and expanding our audio strategy is another key milestone in our evolution towards a global, digital-first, truly cross-platform media brand,” said Justin Dewhirst, general manager, Bloomberg Media, EMEA, in a statement.
The station currently attracts more than 1.2 million listeners in the United States. Bloomberg Radio is currently available in Britain via the Bloomberg Radio+ app for Apple iPhone and Android and online at Bloomberg.com/Audio.
Bloomberg Radio programming from Europe launched earlier this year with flagship European breakfast show “First Word Europe,” which airs each business day from London.
Newly hired anchor Markus Karlsson joins the Bloomberg Radio Europe line-up this month, bringing more than a decade of international broadcasting experience to the role, most recently as business editor at France 24.
