Scott Lanman has been named managing editor of economy coverage at Bloomberg News.
He previously was deputy managing editor. He will manage a team of about 20 journalists covering the U.S. economy, including indicators, Federal Reserve, economic policy and the real economy.
Lanman has been with Bloomberg since 1999. He has been a technology reporter and an FCC and tech policy reporter. He also covered the Federal Reserve for more than six years and was the team leader for economic indicators coverage. Lanman was also China economy editor and international economic policy editor.
Lanman was executive producer of Bloomberg’s weekly global economics podcast, “Stephanomics,” which he helped launch in early 2019. He co-hosted the show’s predecessor, “Benchmark,” from 2016-2018.
