Bloomberg news promotes some international editors

Bloomberg News editor in chief Matthew Winkler announced internally Friday some promotions among its international editors.

Here they are, paraphrased from Winkler’s note:

John Fraher, managing editor for Europe, Middle East and Africa, becomes executive editor for international government. Fraher now will focus mostly on international government and world conflicts from Ukraine to Gaza, from Nigeria to Iraq and China helping Bloomberg compile the best perspective on diplomacy and politics and their impact on markets and business.

Ros Mathieson, currently deputy managing editor for economy and government based in Singapore, will help John lead reporting in Asia and becomes the regional managing editor for international government.

In EMEA, that job will be done by Andrew Barden, a veteran reporter on three continents, who also becomes a managing editor. The European and Asian legal teams will report up through Barden and Mathieseon, respectively. Craig Gordon in Washington will work closely with Fraher for the U.S. portion of the international coverage.

Ken Fireman continues his current role as managing editor for government in the Americas outside the U.S.

Craig Stirling, an experienced European editor, becomes managing editor for economy in EMEA, working with Chris Anstey and Ken, who will continue to direct economics coverage in Asia and the U.S. Melinda Grenier continues as managing editor for economy and government enterprise.
