Bloomberg News names new MEs, team leaders, shifts in coverage

Bloomberg News announced to its staff Tuesday a number of management changes and shifts in coverage, which is grouped into teams, according to sources in the newsroom.

The breaking news team is now called the “speed team.” Executive editor John McCorry is in charge of it for the Americas. London bureau chief Malcom Fried is in charge of the speed team in Europe. Chris Collins, formerly managing editor in Europe,Â will run the speed teamÂ in Asia.Â

Katherine SnyderÂ becomes a managing editor for mergers and acquisitions, reporting to Laurie Hays, who is executive editor of corporate news.

The technology and telecommunications teamÂ has been split into two teams, andÂ the media team has been wrapped into the consumer team.Â Telecom will be headed by Julie Alnwick, whileÂ Jeff Taylor, San Francisco bureau chief and enterprise editor, is now managing editor forÂ technology. Jennfier Sondag, previously the U.S. media team leader,Â will take over the consumer team while continuing to be the media team leader. In addition, entertainment will become its own team.Â Â

Sondag replaces former consumer team leaderÂ Mike Nol, who becomes the corporate finance team leader.Â And Beth Williams is leaving as municipal bonds team leaderÂ to work forÂ Bloomberg magazine, and she will be replaced by Mike Weiss.

Chris Nagi, previously the Americas stocks team leader, isÂ nowÂ managing editorÂ for stocks. In terms of stocks coverage, teams have been divided into emerging markets and developed markets in every region.Â

A new emerging markets team is beingÂ led by Laura Zelenko, previously ME for global stocks, who will report toÂ Ken Kohn, former head of Bloomberg’s worldwide broadcast operations.Â Â David Papadopoulos becomes team leader forÂ Americas emerging markets, whileÂ Linus Chua will run the Asia stock team andÂ Sandy Hendry will oversee coverage of Asia bonds, amongÂ other changes.Â

In addition, Rob UrbanÂ becomesÂ managing editorÂ for real estate coverage, whileÂ Marty Schenker, former ME for Bloomberg TV,Â becomes managing editorÂ of global top team and global training team.Â And Patrick OsterÂ becomes managing editor of legal news, while Dave Rovella takes his place as team leader.

Managing editor for the Americas Joe Winski is now in charge of a new regulation and policy team.
