Bloomberg News and blogging

Bloomberg News has been quietly adding to its blog portfolio.

The latest is a tech blog, which appears to have launched earlier this week and is simply called Tech Blog. The blog’s home page says it will illuminate “the layer of personalities, controversies, clashes and curiosities that keep Silicon Valley humming.” There are already dozens of tech news blogs out there, so Bloomberg is entering a crowded field.

Bloomberg inherited a number of blogs when it acquired BusinessWeek, but many of those blogs are dormant and have not been updated in more than a year, including “The Auto Beat,” “Byte of the Apple” and “On Media.” Other blogs on the Businessweek site are updated only sporadically.

However, Bloomberg Businessweek does have some blogs populated with a lot of recent content, including “Joshua Green on Politics,” a blog devoted to national politics and public policy issues, from Congress to the 2012 Presidential campaign trail.

In addition, there are blogs for Bloomberg View, the company’s commentary arm, and a blog on sustainability called The Grid. Paul Kedrosky also writes a blog for Bloomberg.

Blog content also goes on the company’s terminal, and the company is planning more blogs as it continues to build out its online editorial operation and launch new channels.
