OLD Media Moves

Bloomberg names global head of Bloomberg Live

Patrick Garrigan

Stephen Colvin, global head of advertising and marketing, sent the following memo to Bloomberg Media employees:

All,

We are just six weeks into the new year and have made a stellar start in executing our ambitious global growth strategy for Bloomberg Media. Thank you everyone for your contributions. I am thrilled to announce that we have two exciting new senior hires joining us who deepen our bench even further.

Patrick Garrigan will join as Global Head of Bloomberg Live.  Patrick brings with him over fifteen years of event experience and a proven track-record of taking revenue-driving, cross-platform initiatives from ideation to implementation. He comes to Bloomberg Media from The Atlantic where he was Executive Director of Business Development for AtlanticLIVE, leading event innovation and client partnership strategies. Not only did he dramatically build out AtlanticLIVE’s underwriter base, he was also responsible for leading major initiatives from The Atlantic’s 2016 Presidential Convention presence to the brand’s international expansion. Prior to The Atlantic, Patrick was Director of Events for POLITICO, and Vice President at the experiential marketing agency MAG (formerly The Michael Alan Group). He is also the co-author of Guerrilla Marketing for Dummies.

Our live events business has seen tremendous growth over the past four years (2015-2019) with a CAGR of 83%. That growth is set to continue in 2020: We kicked off in January with the must attend annual Bloomberg’s The Year Ahead Davos, featuring Satya Nadella, Larry Fink and Jen Morgan, and held our successful inaugural Bloomberg Power Players Summit in Miami during the Big Game weekend. This year Bloomberg Live will continue to expand the events aligned with our global franchises such as our technology franchise, Sooner Than You Think, Bloomberg Equality and our business franchise, Bloomberg Breakaway. The Bloomberg Live team will also launch the event track of our new and important Bloomberg Green franchise.

Patrick starts with us on March 2nd. He will be based in New York and will report to me, working closely with the exceptional Bloomberg Live management team of Mark Miller, Jennifer Roach and Kelly Edwards.
