Bloomberg Media names managing director for Asia-Pacific

Parry Ravindranathan has been appointed as the first managing director of Bloomberg Media Asia Pacific, responsible for leading Bloomberg’s entire platform of web, mobile, television, digital video, print magazines and live events.

The announcement follows one earlier this week where Bloomberg Media named a managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Ravindranathan assumes his new role this week, and will be based out of Hong Kong.

During the last three years, Ravindranathan has led Bloomberg TV in Asia-Pacific, expanding its commercial partnerships. Prior to joining Bloomberg, Ravindranathan worked at Al Jazeera in Qatar and CNBC-TV18 in India.

“Our global assets are already unrivaled in the media industry, but we are reaching for the next level by investing and expanding around the world,” said Bloomberg Media CEO Justin B. Smith in a statement. “We have major ambitions in Asia and we are appointing now, for the first time, a leader to oversee all operations in the region. Parry has proven himself to be one of Bloomberg Media’s most entrepreneurial leaders, with a keen eye for identifying opportunities for monetization and expansion.”

“We have an incredible opportunity right now to take Bloomberg Media to the next level of growth in Asia,” said Ravindranathan in a statement. “We will continue to build on the successes of our various media properties and the strength of our content, talent, local programming and partnerships. There is a real opening for us in this region to make an impact with global and local audiences, and build a digital-led, multi-platform media company that will continue to invest and innovate for years to come.”
