Bloomberg Media hires app development and audience growth managers

Scott Havens, Bloomberg Media’s global head of digital, announced Tuesday that Ambika Nigam and Claisian Phillips have joined the organization as global head of mobile applications and global head of audience growth and strategy, respectively.

“Ambika and Claisian are two leading digital talents whose collective experience in developing digital products and experiences are a gain for Bloomberg Media,” said Havens in a statement. “We’re currently focused on growing and refining our digital portfolio in the goal of becoming the No. 1 global business and finance media organization, and Ambika and Claisian will have an important impact on our evolution, specifically in regards to OTT, mobile and audience growth strategies.”

Nigam will focus on the digital experience across Bloomberg’s portfolio of consumer apps and help define the future vision for Bloomberg Media across mobile app and OTT platforms.

Nigam joined Bloomberg Media from IDEO, where she helped companies develop revolutionary digital products and experiences to move them into adjacent markets. She launched new ventures and products for major media, financial services, and retail companies. Her primary responsibilities included leading the product development process, user research, product design, and business development.

Prior to IDEO, Nigam was a manager in marketing strategy at Ogilvy & Mather and began her career as an analyst at Oppenheimer Funds. Nigam has a B.A. in economics from the University of Michigan and a master’s in communications from Columbia University.

Phillips’s task is to help the company better understand digital users. She will play a key role in expanding Bloomberg’s expertise in audience segmentation, acquisition and retention, particularly across the company’s portfolio of consumer Apps, OTT platform, along with email/podcast/magazine subscribers. Phillips will also drive strategy around registration / data collection and usage.

Prior to joining Bloomberg, Phillips worked at Disney in numerous capacities, including digital engagement and franchise management, product marketing and distribution and global partner marketing.

Working across some of Disney’s most valuable consumer franchises such as “Cars” and “Pirates of the Caribbean,” and platforms such as Disney Movies Anywhere and Disney Movie Rewards, her primary responsibilities included digital audience growth strategy, direct to consumer marketing and analytics, and EHV/VOD partnerships.
