John Hechinger, based in Bloomberg’s Boston bureau, is succeeding Stryker McGuire as Bloomberg Markets magazine’s features editor.
A former Wall Street Journal senior writer, Hechinger joined Bloomberg in 2010 as a reporter covering the intersection of finance and education. He was most recently a senior editor focused on enterprise stories for the Terminal, the web site and Bloomberg Businessweek magazine.
“We’re thrilled to have John, a Pulitzer prize finalist and two-time Polk award winner, bring his formidable skills to our features editing team,” Bloomberg Markets editor Christine Harper wrote in an email to staff.
McGuire, the London-based features editor of Bloomberg Markets magazine, retired from the company on Aug. 31. He joined Bloomberg in 2011 after three decades at Newsweek. In an internal appreciation from the staff, colleagues praised his “deft touch, wordsmithery, wit, and humanity.”
