Bloomberg makes hires, promotions on graphics team

Bloomberg News has hired two new staffers for its graphics team and promoted three others.

Jane Pong is the new team leader for graphics in Hong Kong, joining Bloomberg from the Financial Times. Previously, she was graphics editor at Thomson Reuters and South China Morning Post.

Jin Wu is joining the graphics team in Hong Kong from the Hong Kong bureau of the New York Times. She was a visual editor and reporter based in Hong Kong, leading The Times’s graphics coverage in Asia between 2018 and 2020. She previously worked at Reuters in Singapore.

Chloe Whiteaker, who has been in Hong Kong for the past two and a half years on the graphics team, is moving back to the United States to be team leader for graphics. She also worked in Bloomberg’s Washington bureau for seven years. She has been with Bloomberg since May 2011, first as a graphic designer with Bloomberg Government for a year and then with Bloomberg News.

Allison McCartney is moving into an editing role, where she’ll lead coverage of major events like elections and special projects. She previously worked for ProPublica, The Center for Investigative Reporting, The PBS “NewsHour,” and The Brown Institute for Media Innovation.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
