Bloomberg Law reporter Stankiewicz joins health care publication

Bloomberg Law reporter Mike Stankiewicz has been hired as editor of FierceHealthPayer.

He will focus on health insurance, pharmacy benefits management and centers for Medicare and Medicaid services.

At Bloomberg Law, Stankiewicz covered health-care regulations and congressional policy. The New York native previously was digital editor for WTOP News in Washington and a correspondent for USA TODAY in McLean, Virginia.

Stankiewicz earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism at American University and master of arts in political science and government at Virginia Tech.

In addition, Evan Sweeney has been promoted to executive editor, Payer and IT, from senior editor of FierceHealthIT. Stankiewicz will report to Sweeney.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
