Shannon Sims, lawyer turned freelance journalist, will be joining Bloomberg News as an economy and government editor for Latin America. Sims will be based in Brasília but will be working in Houston for a few months as per her tweet.
Currently, Sims is working as a freelance contributor at The New York Times and at Bloomberg Businessweek. She is also a columnist for Forbes. Sims has also been a member of IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas.
She also held the post of Latin America correspondent at OZY. Among other posts, Sims has also worked as an environmental law clerk at the U.S. Coast Guard and as a law clerk at the Texas General Land Office.
Additionally, she has also served as an Italian language trainer, manager and public relations coordinator and as a New York City teaching fellow.
Sims is a B.A. in international relations, politics and women’s studies from Pomona College. She is also a J.D. in international environmental law from The University of Texas School of Law.
