Bloomberg hires new entertainment industry reporter

Lucas Shaw will be joining Bloomberg News to report on the television and music industries out of its Los Angeles bureau.

Shaw has been working at TheWrap.com. He has also interned at the Los Angeles Times, Variety, GQ and TheWrap, and was part of a team that won a National Entertainment Journalism Award for a series on the changing economics in Hollywood and its impact on writers and producers.

Shaw is a graduate of Columbia University with a degree in political science. His father, David Shaw, was a well-known media reporter for the Los Angeles Times.

Shaw will start at Bloomberg on Aug. 18.

In May, Bloomberg lost Andy Fixmer, who covered a similar beat, to Mashable, where he is special projects editor.
