Bloomberg hires John Helyar

Bloomberg News announced internally Monday that it has hired noted business journalist John Helyar as an enterprise reporter based in Atlanta.

Helyar previously worked as a reporter for The Wall Street Journal, as a senior writer for Fortune, and as a senior writer for ESPN.com and ESPN The Magazine.

Helyar has written “The Lords of the Realm: The Real History of Baseball” and co-authored “Barbarians at the Gate,” which was about the leveraged buyout of RJR Nabisco and is considered one of the best business books of all time.

He starts at Bloomberg News on March 24.

Helyar is married to Fortune senior writer Betsy Morris.
