Jennifer DlouhyBloomberg Washington bureau chief and executive editor Megan Murphy sent out the following message on Friday:

Hi all – I’ve got some more exciting hiring news to share.

I’m delighted to announce that Jennifer Dlouhy, who currently covers energy policy for the Houston Chronicle in DC, will be joining us as our new energy and environment reporter, on Jon Morgan‘s team. She steps into the very big shoes of Mark Drajem, who is now overseeing Bloomberg Government’s expanded energy coverage, including a well-read morning newsletter.

Jennifer has been covering energy policy for the Houston Chronicle since 2008 — after three years reporting on legal and congressional affairs for other Hearst newspapers.

Before joining Hearst in 2005, she spent four years covering legal affairs — including the Patriot Act, immigration laws and tensions over filling judicial vacancies — for Congressional Quarterly. She also has reported for The Seattle Post-Intelligencer and The San Antonio Express-News.

Outside of work, Jennifer is an occasional hiker, a wannabe runner and an enthusiastic cook who enjoys taking advantage of local produce, including what she pulls from her own small Capitol Hill garden. Originally from Tampa, Jennifer lives in Washington,D.C., with her son (Drew) and her husband  (Christopher), a fellow reporter.

Please join me in welcoming Jennifer when she comes aboard next month.
